Getting a child into preschool these days just may be more difficult than getting into the Ivy League. It wasn't easy, but we got Patrick into Tomorrow's Promise Preschool for next school year. It is held at a church down the street from the babysitter, and she will be taking him every Monday and Wednesday mornings. It used to be first come first serve, but they started having fights in the lines waiting to get in! And it's at a CHURCH! So, they changed the format to first CALL first serve, so that there weren't any punches thrown. We had Keri, Keri's mom (on two lines), the babysitter, and the sitter's mom all calling. The sitter's mom was the big winner to get an open line. (Thanks, Cindy!)
Who knew that preschool sign ups were so cutthroat these days!

Speech Therapy
Patrick had his Speech Evaluation last Thursday (1/10) at Easter Seals. He went through about 1 1/2 hours of testing, and as we figured, he has no language or vocabulary delays, and he showed the evaluator that he can be very charming and social. We haven't heard back from the articulation results, but she did say that she is certain she wants Patrick to receive speech therapy each week for 60 minute sessions. This is probably no surprise to anyone; Patrick has no problem talking your ear off, but he is still difficult to understand - especially for strangers. So, we're looking forward to the sessions, hoping that we see improvement quickly!

Doctor visit today
Keri decided to take Jonah into Dr. Emm's office today based on mostly "motherly instinct". Thankfully, her instincts are good, as our boy has an ear infection in both ears. We never seem to have an easy time at the doc's office; Jonah urinated all over EVERYTHING (and I mean everything: the scale, the nurse, his mother...), Patrick got stuck under a chair, and on the way out, Patrick grabbed a box of tissues from another 3-year-old saying loud enough for everyone to hear, "I have a big booger and it needs to come out now!"
But, the good news is that even with his ear infection, Jonah still knows how to grow. He was 24 lbs today!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Let's get caught up!
Since this is our VERY first post in our blog, it would probably be a good idea to get everyone caught up with our lives right now. In case you haven't heard, we no longer live in the Chicago area, but moved back to Normal so that we'd be closer to our families. Here's the latest from all the family members:
Michael: He is enjoying his new job in the Planning & Analysis Department at State Farm. He is especially enjoying his new hours! Even when he works late, he's home by 5:00!!! What a difference that is to the jobs he used to have. This new job has given him time to spend with the family, exercise, and work on projects around the house. We've recently learned that he is fantastic at tiling jobs! (I will post a picture of this soon!)
Keri: She is teaching kindergarten at Grove Elementary School in Normal. She absolutely loves the school and the district! And as for Keri's handyman abilities, we've learned that she is a pretty good painter! Who knew!?
Patrick: It may seem unbelievable, but he is already three-years-old! He celebrated his birthday with all of his favorite people, which definitely includes his cousins Zach and Mia, who he asks about almost every day. He loves trains, and he is certainly growing to become a sweet and loving little boy.
Jonah: Jonah was born only 3 short weeks after the family moved into their new home. He was born on May 30, 2007; weighing 9 pounds, 6 ounces. At his 6 months appointment, he weighed in at 23 pounds, 1 ounce. He is full of smiles, even at 3:00am. He just popped out his first tooth yesterday. He is getting more and more personality everyday, and he is amazingly sweet and cuddly.
Jake: The family dog is now 5 1/2-years-old! He is still a maniac when friends or family come to visit, but it's only because he loves everyone so much. He is starting to get a few gray hairs around his nose already. Taking him for more walks is one of Michael and Keri's New Year's Resolutions; we want him to stay young for as long as possible.
Well, that about sums it up. We hope to keep you posted on things. Keri is in charge of the pictures, and as you can see there's only three pictures up right now. So stay tuned!
Love to you all!
