Fall Cookout

This will be quick! Patrick had his first school program last night at preschool! (And I believe that we were the only family that forgot their camera. I'm pretty bummed about that!) His 3-year-old class did such a great job in front of everyone, and there were a lot of people in the audience since a 4-year-old and 5-year-old class performed after his. Some of the kids seemed a little timid in front of such a big crowd, but not our Patrick! He was his usual self, and did a "jazz-hand" type ending when the song finished. Hmmm...maybe we should be glad that we forgot our camera?

We're all in school!

Here we are, already into September. The time is flying by!

Keri started teaching 2nd grade this year, and she absolutely loves it. She has a really nice class, and she is enjoying the other teachers that she's working with. She is also the assistant volleyball coach for 7th/8th grade girls at Trinity Lutheran School. She's having a really good time! They've only had one game so far, and unfortunately they lost, but there are a lot of games left, so we'll just have to wait and see how the season goes for them.

Patrick started preschool last week, and he is having a blast! His babysitter is taking him and picking him up, and he already has a couple of friends in his class. They made applesauce on Monday and got to have it as their snack today. Since he's in the 3's class, he goes twice a week - Mondays and Wednesdays. Today happened to be "Yellow Day"; now doesn't that sound like fun?! He goes on his first field trip on Monday; they're going to Normal's one-room school house. He will have a lot of fun! We took pictures of his first day last week, and once we get our act together, we will get them posted.

Michael is enjoying his extra time that he gets to spend with the boys, especially now that Keri is coaching volleyball. He is training for the half-marathon, which is next weekend, and I think he'll be very happy when it's over. He is tired of running! It looks like Michael will be teaching a class or two at Robert Morris College in Peoria starting this winter. He's really looking forward to that.

The only downer right now in the Roper house is the Chicago Cubs. What are they doing!? It's so hard on the soul to see them lose their last 8 out of 9 games, but we're still hoping that they can pull through and get the job done.

Well, that's all for now! We'll be sure to post pictures of Patrick's first day soon.
